4 Pastoral Council
This Council has been temporarily resurrected by our new parish priest, Fr Keith. This is the second pastoral council, which had a change of membership in October 2008. From the beginning many parishioners did not understand the role of the council, which made it difficult for the council to work effectively

5 Parish Priest
Fr Keith spoke about the Diocesan Vision Statement, how we need to be a Celebrating, Caring, Learning and Living Church and an effective sign of the Kingdom of God.
We are one parish, with three worshipping communities and a parish centre. Although Tintagel is part of the parish, it runs independently and will continue to do so, for the time being, although Fr Keith and Fr Bryan are in communication re Sunday Masses.
Each community must be viable, both spiritually and financially. They must have Health and Safety reps, safeguarding reps, servers and musicians.
Financially, are we receiving enough money?
Each community has separate issues which could be addressed locally in the first instance.
Bodmin Church Inadequate heating
Wasted space at the back of the Church
Different floor levels throughout the Church
Wadebridge Church Asbestos Roof
Prime site in Wadebridge
Padstow Church Huge garden
Some subsidence
Parish Centre Needs painting inside and out

Each community is also responsible in part for the financial needs of the Parish Priest, the Deacon and the Centre. Parishioners need to be better informed about the finances of the Parish, e.g. not many people realise that the Centre is completely self-funding and is contributing back to the parish. Breaking down the finances to a weekly incoming/outgoing sheet and giving that information to the parishioners might help.

As a parish, how welcoming are we? We should be vibrant, attractive, a living breathing body of Christ. To discuss the way forward Fr. Keith is going to arrange a meeting in each community, which anyone can attend. He will set the agenda, and items can be sent in to him two weeks before the meeting for A.O.B. These meetings need to take place before the Pastoral council can meet again.
Also, with immediate effect, no community meeting can take place without the presence of Fr. Keith. For example, St. Michaels Church group becomes Wadebridge Community, and cannot hold any meetings without Fr Keith’s approval and his being present at the meeting.

6 Mass Times
The question of day and times of Mass in the Parish was raised.
For the time being Mass will be as follows.

Monday No Mass
Tuesday Padstow at 9.30am
Wednesday School at 10.00am
Thursday Bodmin at 10.00am
Friday Wadebridge at 10.00am
Saturday Bodmin at 10.00am
Sunday
1st Mass of Sunday is at Padstow on Saturday evening at 5.30pm
Wadebridge at 8.30am
Bodmin at 10.30am.

During school holidays the Wednesday Mass will be in Bodmin Church. When Fr Keith is away, there will be one Celebration of the Word with Holy Communion in the Parish on the day that there would have been Mass, so on a Tuesday, it would be in Padstow. There will be new booklets delivered to each Church, they have been approved by the Bishop, and they are the ONLY ones to be used.
Please note there is Mass in Tintagel every day.

7 Communication
This is big problem in every parish. Lots of information goes out, but ears do not always hear well, or only hear what they want to!! It is up to the pastoral council to make sure that only the truth goes out, and the true views of all parishioners is taken back to Fr. Keith. The Pastoral Council is an advisory body only, final decision-making rests with Fr. Keith.

8 Dates of Future Pastoral Council Meetings
These will be decided after the Community Meetings.

9 Concluding Prayer

St Paul the Apostle Church here in Tintagel is a small Mission Church within the Parish of Bodmin, the Deanery of Cornwall and the Diocese of Plymouth, England.

The Bodmin website of St Mary's and St Petroc is http://www.stmarysbodmin.org.uk/
The Deanery of Cornwall website is http://www.plymouth-diocese.org.uk/index.php?q=dir/parishes/cornwall
The Diocese of Plymouth website is http://www.plymouth-diocese.org.uk/

The church is dedicated to St Paul whose apostolate was his missionary work. He was also one of the main characters to spread and develop early Christianity.

The Mission of Tintagel, like so many others in Cornwall, was founded by the Canons Regular of Lateran from Bodmin. The Church of St Paul the Apostle was built in 1968. Of particular interest in the modern building is the Cornish serpentine statue of the Blessed Virgin, Stations of the Cross carved locally, the stained glass made by the monks of Buckfast.

Please click on 'PHOTOS OF OUR CHURCH' for more details on our beautiful little church.

Our Bishop Christopher invited us to adopt this VISION OF OUR MISSION:

In order that the Gospel may be lived and preached effectively we pledge ourselves, before Our Lord in the World and in co-operation with all other Christians, to be the Good News of the Kingdom in person, word and action.

We will become more fully:

A CELEBRATING CHURCH – Expressing what we believe in our worship, engaging with the gift of liturgy, and allowing ourselves to be renewed in it

A CARING CHURCH – Seeking to understand the sufferings of those around us, reaching out and being Christ to one another, and serving the world

A LEARNING CHURCH – Deepening our understanding of our faith, humbling ourselves to learn from Our Lord and each other, and discovering our true nature as the Body of Christ

A LIVING CHURCH – Empowering all around us with the presence and joy of the Holy Spirit, proclaiming Christ to the world, and being faithful to our mission.

“The Spirit of the lord has been given to me, for he has anointed me. He has sent me to give news to the poor, to proclaim liberty for captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lord’s year of favour” Luke 4: 8-9

We would like to THANK all visitors to this site who have made it so popular. This website, we hope, encourages not only those of our own Mission but visitors to Tintagel and this site, to consider how we live and promote the Gospel of Christ. Please keep us in your PRAYERS and send us your COMMENTS and IDEAS for improvement of our spiritual life and/or our website.

USE IT OR LOSE IT!!
There’s a certain way of making sure St. Paul’s remains open. Everyone needs to come and pray and hear Mass more often! If every local Catholic did this, the question would never arise.

Our Miscarriage & Infant Loss Memorial Book Ministry is administered from Füssen,Bavaria,Deutschland. The Memorial Book is placed on the altar at all Masses celebrated in Tintagel. There is also an online Book which has been 'live' since 1st December 2001.It is a prayer request facility for all who have lost a baby from conception to 3 years old.
